MAIN STAGE
NORMALER THAN EVERYONE
By Brian Joseph

Normaler Than Everyone is a one-man musical about an artist trying to use the many disciplines of his craft(s) to both get through and to get away from his darkest hour. Through his songs, writings and photographs, made while his wife was going through cancer treatment, he presents a funny and moving portrait of a cancer caregiver, enraged by soup and terrified by the specter of ghosts. Co-devised and directed by Dani Bedau, Normaler Than Everyone is ultimately a meditation on love and mortality.

MARJORIE BRANSON PERFORMANCE SPACE
PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT
by Brian Joseph

Cancer is ubiquitous. Everyone either has it, had it, or loves someone who does or did. When my wife was diagnosed, my obsession with her illness found a natural outlet in photography. These portraits are pictures of people who are in the club that nobody wants to be in. With membership comes a profound understanding of mortality, and in many cases, a deeper appreciation for life. Some of the folks pictured are cured, some are in treatment, some have died.  I used a very difficult kind of photography – a large format 8×10 camera that’s over a hundred years old, and expired film stock – because I wanted to slow the process down, and invite the surprise outcomes and uncertainty that the medium offered. I’m so grateful for all of the subjects for sharing their stories with me and sitting for a photograph. I’m still taking these photos, and anyone who is interested (or knows someone who might be interested) should let me know…

LOBBY
WILLOW TREE MAKES A CURTAIN, OR MAYBE A VEIL ONSTAGE AND OTHER WORKS
by Sarah Ann Weber

Sarah Ann Weber’s drawings, paintings, and sculptures transport you to a place of fantasy, though rooted in reality and impermeability. Using gestural strokes, Weber creates movement through her work to explore both nature, decay, and the lack of predictability that is inherent to these processes. While her candy coated and pastel hues draw in the viewer, it is the complex layering of foliage, patterns, and shapes that hold your interest. — Alex Rojas for Girl Trip
