The L.A.-based women’s folk chorus performs an evening of traditional music from Eastern Europe, including a cappella and accompanied songs from Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Macedonia, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine, as well as from the Ladino Sephardic and Romani traditions.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
The group was formed in 1976 by women who shared a common interest in the complex harmonies and compelling rhythms typical in Balkan music. Very much in the Eastern European tradition, Nevenka includes women of all ages making music together.
