ABOUT THE ARTISTS

CINIMA

is the brainchild of musician and visual artist Nima Rezai.

Nima has been playing the Chapman Stick for over 30 years and studied Improvised Music Studies, as well as Electro-Acoustics at San Jose State University.  He has since produced and performed with various multimedia projects, combining his musical and video production skills to bring forth unique performance experiences with various performance mediums and artists.

The foundational idea of CINIMA was to combine his love for electronic music and sound design ideas on the Chapman Stick in a setting where original music is combined with live visuals and controlled in a way that allows for improvisation to combine the electronic music experience and musicianship.

Being drawn to rare and interesting instruments, Nima began to play the Laser Harp 5 years ago and incorporated it into the CINIMA show.

After many years of composition and experimentation, the multimedia show has gone from concept to reality.

SURGE Witrön

is an educator, curator/artist and plant enthusiast. Second generation American to immigrant parents / grandparents. Santanero by birth, Angeleno by proximity.Growing up with expressions of “Echale Ganas!” have echoed in his professional and artistic practice.

Components of personal D.N.A. are embedded through artifacts of matriarchy members, readymade material, and repurpose play objects.

A BIT ABOUT BOSTON COURT

Boston Court Pasadena is dedicated to creating and presenting works that are innovative, diverse, vital and adventurous in an intimate setting.

HISTORY

We opened our doors in 2003 after philanthropist Z. Clark Branson decided to give back to the Pasadena community that fostered his love of the arts from a young age. Mr. Branson built a state-of-the-art facility that includes a 99-seat Main Stage and an 80-seat flexible space. A non-profit entity (The Theatre at Boston Court d/b/a Boston Court Pasadena) was created and charged with maintaining the facility as well as programming and funding its operations.

Each year, we produce a season of more than 100 exciting performances in theatre and music, including an Emerging Artists Series and a New Play Reading Festival. We also showcase rotating visual art exhibits that complement the themes of our music and theatre programming.

VIRTUAL BUILDING TOUR

Join Managing Director Cheryl Rizzo for a hysterical tour through the building we miss so much.
