The Artist
Founded in 2014 and currently in their sixth season, Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra is a conductor-less orchestra dedicated to enriching lives through exhilarating concert experiences, artistic excellence, musician leadership, and connecting with the diverse communities of Los Angeles. Recently featured in the Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Huffington Post, Musical America, and Symphony Magazine, Kaleidoscope performed over 60 free concerts in the past year at title I schools, hospitals, homeless shelters, and other spaces where people have little or no access to music.
In addition to performing standard repertoire, Kaleidoscope has premiered over 100 new works that primarily came from their annual call for scores, which recently received over 2,200 applications from composers in 90 countries. Kaleidoscope also has upcoming commissions for 2019 and 2020 by Andy Akiho, Anna Clyne, Augusta Read Thomas, Billy Childs, Christopher Cerrone, Danny Clay, David Hertzberg, Gabriella Smith, Hannah Lash, Joel Hoffman, Julia Adolphe, Krists Auznieks, Libby Larsen, Melinda Wagner, Melissa Dunphy, Natalie Dietterich, Pamela Z, Peter Shin, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Stephen Hartke, Ted Hearne, and Viet Cuong, and Will Healy.
