We have a lot of virtual programming planned in the coming months and are creatively brainstorming for what 2021 will bring. But to make any of that happen – we need your support!
We have less than 24 hours left to raise $7,132 to reach our goal! A donation in any amount can help us get to $50,000 and unlock a special preview in our live stream tonight at 7pm on YouTube.
So please donate. Bid. Spread the word. We need your partnership now more than ever.
Join us September 7 – 13 for Stages of Love, a week-long fundraising event in support of Boston Court. You can participate in three ways:
WATCH
Each day we’ll release fun videos as we celebrate the love for the art, for our audience, and for hopeful days ahead.
STAGES OF LOVE: PARTNERSHIP
We’ve come to the final stage in the relationship evolution. You are partners to each other in life—you can spend hours, days, weeks, months side by side with this person, and you only better each other. Just like our supporters make us better.
The performing arts need an audience. And we have the best of them!
Stages of Love: Challenges
Creating art, like love, is full of challenges. Finding the best actors for the roles, designing the impossible, and making magic within a very practical budget are all challenges we love to tackle. However, a global pandemic is one challenge we would rather have missed. To say the past six months have been challenging for Boston Court is an understatement, but we will get through it because of the love of our entire community!
STAGES OF LOVE: INTIMACY
If you’ve decided to get serious, you’ve landed at the intimacy stage of a relationship. While the word may conjure an association with physical intimacy, this stage focuses on vulnerability. It’s incredibly tough to be vulnerable and to reveal—openly and unequivocally—parts of yourself that aren’t ideal. We know that the institution of Boston Court isn’t perfect. But as a staff, we’re committed to making it better and we are so grateful that our patrons are committed to us.
Stages of Love: Attraction
If you’ve made it past the initial awkwardness, couples enter one of the most exciting periods: the attraction stage, also called the honeymoon phase. This is a golden period where, as Gandhi puts it, “You’re lit up like a chandelier around this person.” Lucky for us, when it comes to our audience the honeymoon never ends.
Stages of Love: The Awkward Beginning
While some chance encounters result in instant chemistry, there can also be an initial awkwardness. What was your first experience with Boston Court? Was it love at first sight? Or did it require some additional getting to know each other?

FAQ
Q: The world is falling apart right now! Why should I donate to the arts?
A: There are MANY good reasons to support all arts organizations right now, including:
- For our Community: Research shows that for every $1 spent on a ticket in the arts, $12 is generated in the local economy, contributing five times the value to our economy as the agriculture sector (source: 2017 NEA study)
- For the tax benefit: The CARES Act allows individuals to deduct up to $300 in charitable donations on their 2020 tax returns without itemizing, or up to your full income with itemization. (Consult your tax professional for details!)
- For emotional well-being: The arts are able to sooth, heal and move people in unique ways. They bring us together even when we’re “physically distanced”. Think of all the examples of opera from balconies, zoom symphonies, and art that you have enjoyed (and missed) since the shutdowns began!
Q: I don’t need a bunch of videos and emails. I’ll just donate! Tell me how.
A: You can donate, at ANY TIME, all year long, in any amount at this link. Thanks for the support.
Q: I want to send a check / I have a donor advised fund. Where can I send my donation?
A: Our mailing address is:
Boston Court Pasadena
PO Box 60187
Pasadena, CA 91116
Q: I love Boston Court but I’ve lost my job and can’t make a donation. Are there other ways I can help?
A: Absolutely! Here are some other ways you can help us out:
- Get the word out! Share our links and video in email and on social media. Tell your friends and family about a performance you saw at Boston Court that moved you or changed your thinking.
- Help us to reach out to local and online businesses for auction donations, or donate your own skills or expertise for an item (teach an online class, review a paper, etc. for the auction winner). Contact Charitable Giving Manager Tina Langill with your ideas.
- Just watch and enjoy the videos we are sharing. Every view helps!
Q: How does this whole online auction thing work?
A: Check out the information on the right, watch our helpful video above, or reach out to the Help Desk at helpdesk@bostoncourtpasadena.org.
